The essentials of playing Russian Solitaire

Treat this as a chance to practise one rule. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. Check the relevant controls before continuing. For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Practice beyond the first move

Take a moment to read the table. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot. Use another round to revisit a decision.

Your objective

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Take the next action only when the current step is clear. Look at the complete hand before deciding.

Follow these playing steps

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Move exposed cards onto suit foundations in the stated rank order.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

See the idea in action

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Use another round to revisit a decision.

Keep this in mind

Before making a move, check the cards in view. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the relevant controls before continuing.
